Our story
Breaking the legal information monopoly.
For decades, two companies have controlled access to legal research and charged whatever they wanted. We’re building the alternative.
Mission
End the legal research duopoly.
CaseRead is the AI associate that knows your case: it searches your firm’s own case files and the public law together. We built it because the tool that should already do this is locked behind a duopoly.
That monopoly has real consequences. Solo practitioners and small firms, the attorneys who serve the majority of Americans, are priced out of the research tools they need. A family law attorney in a two-person practice shouldn’t have to choose between paying rent and accessing case law.
AI changes the economics of legal research entirely. We built CaseRead to prove it: natural language search, citations linked to their sources, private document integration, and real database isolation, at a price that doesn’t require a BigLaw budget.
We’d rather tell you we don’t have the answer than give you a wrong one. That’s the standard we hold ourselves to.
The research engine behind every answer
CaseRead public law database
Statutes and regulations for federal law, all 50 states, DC and Puerto Rico, pulled live when you ask.
Free Law Project
Federal and state case law, read in full before it’s cited.
eCFR · Federal Register · GovInfo
Federal regulations and official government publications.
Every answer links to the source it came from. Anything CaseRead can’t match to a source it retrieved is flagged, not asserted.
Why we built this
The problems we saw.
The AI trust gap
AI tools still invent legal citations, and courts keep finding them. Damien Charlotin’s AI Hallucination Cases Database lists 2,095 cases worldwide in which a court or tribunal found or implied that a party relied on AI-hallucinated content (as of Sept. 28, 2026). The privacy problem
Most AI tools process your client data through shared infrastructure with no isolation guarantees. That’s a privilege violation waiting to happen.
Values
What we believe.
Privacy first
Every architectural decision starts with one question: does this protect attorney-client privilege? If the answer is no, we don’t build it.
Honesty over confidence
Our AI tells you what it found, what it couldn’t find, and where to look next. We’d rather show you a gap than fill it with a guess.
Access for all
Enterprise-grade legal AI shouldn’t require an enterprise budget. We price for solo practitioners and small firms, not just BigLaw.
Built, not bolted
Security, privacy, and accuracy aren’t features we added; they’re the foundation we built on. Database isolation from day one.
It cites where the law came from
Ask in plain English. CaseRead searches your project files and the public law together and cites both.
It remembers the case
A project’s parties, key dates, positions and decisions carry across conversations.
Your own secure vault
Upload briefs, memos, and contracts. CaseRead indexes them so your past work feeds future research.
